SHEIKHUPURA: The 227th annual Urs of Punjabi Sufi poet and creator of the legendary folk tale Heer Ranjha, Syed Waris Shah, will also witness the silver jubilee celebrations of the monthly magazine Panchhi International.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of devotees visit the shrine of Waris Shah, who is regarded as one of the greatest Punjabi Sufi poets, historians, critics, storytellers, and spiritual saints. This year, the Urs will be observed from September 23 to 25 (Tuesday to Thursday).
On this occasion, the silver jubilee of Panchhi International is being celebrated by Punjabi Chontra Dhaban Singh. For nearly 26 years, the magazine has been promoting Punjabi language, literature, culture, the teachings of Punjabi Sufi poets, and the message of Punjabi heroes.
Javed Panchhi, Chief Executive of Panchhi International, said: “Our mission has always been to preserve and promote Punjabi language and heritage. Linking our silver jubilee with the Urs of Waris Shah is both symbolic and historic.”
The celebration is being organized by Chaudhry Azam Khan, Chairman of Punjabi Chontra. Renowned Sufi singers, folk vocalists, and poets from across Punjab will participate in the program and present their performances in tribute to Waris Shah.
