LAHORE: A relief distribution ceremony was organized in Union Council Bahnia, District Narowal, under the Emergency Flood Response 2025 of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), in collaboration with its partner organization Mojaz Foundation. On this occasion, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, and Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, distributed food and non-food items among 230 affected families. This activity is part of a larger initiative aimed at reaching 1,500 families across the district.

As part of its nationwide Emergency Flood Response across 23 districts, PPAF is providing food, non-food items, hygiene kits, medical camps, and livestock vaccination services. All activities are being carried out in line with Sphere Standards and monitored in real time to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

Addressing the ceremony, Federal Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal said that the 2025 floods have clearly shown that climate change is not a future threat but a present-day challenge. This distribution is not just relief material—it is a message of solidarity and hope. The Government of Pakistan stands firmly with every affected family in this difficult time. Our responsibility is not only to meet immediate needs but also to invest in long-term recovery to build safer and stronger communities.

Provincial Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora stated that a nation’s identity is not defined by the scale of a disaster but by the strength of its unity. The efforts of PPAF and Mojaz Foundation are not just about providing relief but are also an example of compassion, solidarity, and interfaith harmony. The Government of Punjab, along with its partners, is committed to restoring dignity, hope, and livelihoods for affected communities.

PPAF’s Chief of Programs, Arshad Rasheed, said that in Narowal, we are supporting 1,500 households, while nationwide, our target is to reach 45,000 families across 27 districts. Through 13 partner organizations, we are providing food, non-food items, and hygiene kits, along with 83 medical camps and 75 livestock vaccination camps. Our commitment is to provide timely relief while also strengthening community resilience.

Chairman of Bait-ul-Mal, Khawaja Waseem Ahmad Butt, remarked that serving humanity is our foremost duty. Cooperation between the government, PPAF, and welfare organizations is essential not only for immediate and effective response but also for long-term recovery.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of political representatives, civil society members, and community leaders, who appreciated the spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
