Constitutional and legal provisions are being examined to determine the possibility of terminating the membership of these suspended lawmakers. The Speaker’s Office is also reviewing past verdicts from superior courts to establish a legal precedent.
Sources revealed that particular attention is being given to the Supreme Court ruling by former Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial in the case against Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, which dealt with the violation of the party line. The Speaker’s Office is reportedly using this judgment as a key reference point in considering legal action.
The suspended members are accused of serious disruptions, including disorderly conduct, use of unparliamentary language, and breach of the Assembly’s decorum during the recent session. The Speaker’s Office is carefully reviewing constitutional clauses and legal interpretations to determine whether their membership can be legally revoked.
Insiders suggest that a strong case is being built, and further action will depend on the legal opinion provided by the Law Department.
