LAHORE: The Election Commission has suspended the membership of 50 members of the Punjab Assembly for failing to submit their asset declarations for the financial year 2024–25.

On the Commission’s orders, the Punjab Assembly Secretariat formally enforced the suspensions. The affected lawmakers include members from both the government and opposition benches.
Officials said the suspended members’ status will be restored immediately once they submit their required asset returns.
Among those suspended are Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Moin Riaz Qureshi, and Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. The list also includes Sardar Pervez Iqbal Gorchani, Sardar Sher Afgan Gorchani, Wasim Khan Baduzai, and Adnan Dogar.
Additionally, three women MPAs elected on reserved seats are also among those suspended.
The Election Commission has directed all 50 members to file their declarations without delay.
