MUMBAI (Web Desk) -Veteran Indian actorand comedian Mushtaq Khan has died at the age of 75, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
According to his son, Mohsin, Khan had been battling cancer and was receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, where he died on Thursday.
Khan began his acting career with the 1980 film Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai? and went on to appear in more than 500 film roles during a career spanning several decades.
His film credits included popular productions such as Hera Pheri, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke* and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.
Khan gained renewed popularity years after the release of the 2007 comedy *Welcome*, in which he portrayed Ballu, a loyal associate of antagonist Uday Shetty.
His understated comic delivery in the film, particularly a scene involving Ballu’s artificial leg and his past as a hockey player, became widely recognised and later circulated extensively online.
Tributes began pouring in following his death, including a condolence message from actor Sunny Deol, Khan’s co-star in *Gadar: Ek Prem Katha*.
Khan’s death marks the loss of a familiar supporting actor whose performances featured prominently across Indian cinema for more than four decades.
