MUMBAI (Web Desk): Indian police have detained three suspects in connection with a shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area, while the actor escaped unharmed, according to Indian media reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening, October 18, as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a private event in Juhu, a prominent Mumbai neighbourhood known for its film industry personalities and expensive residential properties.

Police official Mohit Garg said Shroff was safe and had not sustained any gunshot wounds. However, two people, including the actor’s driver, were injured during the incident and taken for medical treatment.

“Tiger Shroff is safe and Mumbai Police has deployed different teams to investigate further,” Garg told reporters.

Following the shooting, police detained three suspects in Rajasthan, another Indian state, as investigators pursued leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police official Tejaswani Gautam said preliminary questioning had revealed that two of the suspects had previous cases registered against them. One was linked to theft, while the other involved the Arms Act, she said.

Authorities have not yet established a motive for the shooting or publicly confirmed the alleged roles of the detained individuals.

Police investigate motive behind shooting

Investigators are working to determine who was involved in the attack, why the actor was targeted and whether the incident was connected to threats against members of the Hindi film industry.

The detention of the three suspects represents a development in the investigation, but police have yet to disclose details of the evidence linking them to the shooting.

The circumstances of the firing, including whether Shroff himself was the intended target, remain subject to investigation.

Mumbai Police have deployed multiple teams to pursue the case and gather further information. Officials have not announced a final conclusion regarding the motive or any possible wider criminal connections.

The incident has drawn attention to security concerns surrounding prominent entertainment figures in Mumbai, India’s financial capital and the centre of Bollywood.

Fresh concerns over Bollywood security

The shooting comes amid concerns about attacks and threats involving members of the Indian film industry.

Previous incidents reported by Indian media have included gunfire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, an attack involving filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence and repeated threats directed at other entertainment personalities.

Such incidents have prompted calls for stronger protection for actors, their families and other professionals associated with the film industry.

The latest shooting has renewed questions about the safety of public figures attending private events and moving through Mumbai’s residential and entertainment districts.

However, investigators have not established any connection between the attack on Shroff and previous incidents involving other Bollywood personalities.

Police have also not confirmed whether the shooting was linked to extortion, personal enmity or any organised criminal network.

Actor known for action films

Tiger Shroff, 36, is a prominent Bollywood actor known for his action-oriented roles, martial arts skills and physically demanding performances.

He gained recognition through films including the Baaghi franchise and War, establishing himself as a familiar face in Hindi-language action cinema.

The actor’s escape without gunshot injuries brought relief to his fans, although the injuries suffered by two other people highlighted the risks posed by the incident.

Mumbai, widely regarded as India’s entertainment capital, hosts numerous film studios, production companies and residences of leading actors. The city’s film industry plays a significant role in India’s cultural influence and commercial entertainment sector.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the motive, identify all those involved and determine whether additional arrests are necessary.

Authorities have yet to provide a definitive explanation for the shooting.
