At least 12 people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a suicide explosion near the Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The powerful blast occurred around 12:30 pm in a vehicle parked close to the complex. The explosion was heard across the area, and the vehicle caught fire, spreading flames to nearby cars. Initial reports indicate that the injured include lawyers and visitors present at the courthouse.

Police said the area was crowded at the time, contributing to multiple injuries. Victims have been shifted to PIMS Hospital for emergency treatment.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the media, confirming that the suicide attack took place at 12:39 pm. He explained that the attacker had waited outside the court for about 12 minutes, attempted to enter, and detonated near a police vehicle after failing to gain access.

Naqvi emphasized that identifying the bomber is a top priority and would be achieved swiftly. Describing the incident as “not just another bombing,” he said it occurred in the heart of Islamabad and is being investigated from multiple angles. He vowed that those responsible would face justice.
