LAHORE –A two-day Interfaith Harmony Conference was successfully held at the historic site of Katas Raj Temple with the objective of promoting harmony, tolerance, and peace among different religious communities in Pakistan. The event was organized by the non-governmental organization SALT, and attended by more than 130 delegates belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, and other minority communities.
The conference was graced by the presence of Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Minister of State for Sports Kheel Das Kohistani, Federal Secretary for Religious Affairs Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, and Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Ramesh Singh Arora.
In his keynote address, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said that Interfaith harmony is the foundation of Pakistan’s peace, development, and stability. We are one nation regardless of our religion or belief. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the provincial government is taking significant steps to protect the rights of minorities and to ensure their access to education, employment, and freedom of worship.
Our government has introduced educational scholarships, development projects, and has established advisory councils to fully integrate minorities into the national mainstream. Speaking on recent provocations by the Indian government, I want to make it clear that India’s attempts to create sectarian rifts and religious discord in Pakistan will fail. The entire nation, including minority communities, stands united with the Pakistan Armed Forces and our national institutions.
We seek peace, but we will never compromise on the defense of our homeland. Today’s gathering at the sacred site of Katas Raj is a powerful message that all religions are treated with equal respect and dignity in Pakistan. We will continue to promote the message of tolerance, unity, and interfaith love across the world.”
Participants of the conference praised the initiative and emphasized that such events not only promote national unity but also project a positive image of Pakistan on the international stage.
