LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed khan Speaking to the media in the premises of the assembly said that if Sindh has any objection to the canals being dug out of Cholistan, then the members of Punjab and Sindh should sit down and discuss it. Water distribution is a matter of calculation as to who needs how much water. If we sit down together, the issue will be resolved.

Referring to the strike of the health department employees, the Punjab Assembly Speaker said that the government contracts for various projects. Now some projects are run with the help of international powers, but the employees with whom contracts are made believe that we are permanent employees of the government.

The government wants a better system to be created for them. The government has the authority to negotiate and they will do it. We had sent the assembly members yesterday only to hear their position. We will convey what they have said to the government as a trust.

He said that I have not seen the new local government bill yet, but I want to say that if the powers of the representatives are given to the DC, then the power struggle will increase further. This struggle has been going on since 1973, who has what power and many governments have been overthrown in this. I may be the only one who has been raising the voice that the rights and powers of the public representatives should be given to them

But what can I do alone? I think that we are now at a point where we have to stop this and leave it and look at the affairs of the country.
