LAHORE: Lahore Police, under the leadership of Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana, continues the crackdown against drug trafficking in the provincial capital, aiming to rid the city of narcotics.
According to a statement issued today by a spokesman Lahore Police, operations carried out so far in the month of July have resulted in the arrest of 526 suspects involved in drug-related activities, with 511 cases registered against them.
The spokesman detailed that drugs seized from the arrested individuals include 198 kilograms of cannabis (charas), 68 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), 25 kilograms of heroin, 6 kilograms of opium and 2,263 liters of alcohol.
Meanwhile, Lahore Police have arrested a total of 6,697 drug dealers and registered 6,557 cases in various police stations since the beginning of this year. The seizures, made during these operations, include 3,439 kg of cannabis, 554 kg of crystal meth, 302 kg of heroin, 255 kg of opium and over 41,186 liters of alcohol, he added.
Alongside, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated that the Lahore Police were committed to eradicating drug abuse from the city. “Protecting the youth from the scourge of drugs and dismantling drug trafficking networks was a priority,” he asserted.
The CCPO directed police high-ups to help develop a drug-free society, urging intensified efforts against synthetic drugs like crystal meth and heroin. He also stressed the need for targeted operations to curb the online supply and usage of drugs.
Kamyana vowed to bring all those involved in the drug supply chain to justice, reiterating that safeguarding the youngsters from drugs remains central to Lahore Police’s agenda.
He further appealed to parents, teachers, and civil society to play their part in shielding youth from the dangers of drug addiction.
