LAHORE – The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has recorded 31% growth in tax collection during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, collecting Rs87 billion compared with Rs66.3 billion during the same period last year.
The authority said the latest collection marked a new quarterly record, reflecting improved tax compliance and expanded monitoring measures.
A meeting to review annual revenue targets was held under the chairmanship of PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra. The meeting reviewed sector-wise revenue targets, tax returns and the performance of revenue officers.
Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra directed officials to ensure comprehensive scrutiny of records of entities suspected of tax fraud and evasion.
He said efforts to broaden the tax base and strengthen digital monitoring were producing positive results in line with the directions of the Punjab chief minister.
The chairman said the implementation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (e-IMS), along with measures to improve tax compliance, had contributed to the increase in revenue collection.
He further directed officials to expand action against tax fraud, misappropriation and the issuance of fake receipts, stressing the need for effective enforcement and greater transparency in the taxation system.
