LAHORE: A passenger and an alleged travel agent have been arrested at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport after immigration officials detected a suspected fake Canadian visa during clearance procedures, according to FIA officials.
The passenger, identified as Umar Jameel, was reportedly travelling to Canada on flight QR-621 when he was stopped during immigration checks after officials found irregularities in his travel documents.
According to FIA sources, the Canadian visit visa stamped on the suspect’s Pakistani passport was found to be fake during verification. Initial findings suggest the visa was obtained through an agent identified as Atiq, allegedly in exchange for PKR 6.5 million.
Following interrogation, the passenger reportedly identified the agent involved in arranging the fraudulent documents. Acting on this information, authorities arrested the alleged agent Atiq from the airport premises.
Both suspects were taken into custody and transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore for further investigation and legal proceedings, said an FIA spokesperson.
Officials said further inquiry is underway to determine whether the network is part of a larger human smuggling or visa fraud operation.
