LAHORE: Pakistan’s judicial system is complex and ineffective,” says former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf from Lahore.

“For 20 to 25 years, the public has been suffering in courts seeking justice.”
He also said that the Supreme Court has a limited number of judges. Ashraf questions how long it took to resolve Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s reference case. He appreciates Bilawal Bhutto’s sincere efforts to improve the justice system by reaching out to everyone.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference along with General Secretary PPP Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza at PPP Punjab Secretariat.

Regarding judicial appointments, Ashraf asks about the procedure in the amendment.

He expresses concerns that the current process raises many questions. Ashraf recalls that in 2006, the Pakistan Peoples Party formed the Charter of Democracy with other opposing political parties.

Other parties also signed the charter, which ensured that no assembly completed its five-year term before it.

Pakistan’s judicial system consists of two tiers: the superior judiciary and the subordinate judiciary. The superior judiciary includes the Supreme Court, the Federal Shariat Court, and five High Courts, with the Supreme Court at the top. Each of the four provinces has its own High Court, as well as a separate High Court for the capital, Islamabad.

The Constitution mandates the superior judiciary to protect and defend it.

General Secretary PPP Central Punjab Syed Hassan Murtaza said a party wants to spread chaos in the country.
He claims that PTI doesn’t want to accept parliamentary supremacy. Murtaza questions the Chief Minister of Punjab, asking him to reveal which 12 districts he has visited. He emphasizes that the Pakistan People’s Party supports constitutional amendments. Furthermore, Murtaza suggests separating civil and criminal courts in the lower courts.

While expressing his concerns Hassan Murtaza said a political party is attempting to create unrest in Pakistan and criticizing the Chief Minister’s actions. He also highlights the People’s Party’s stance on constitutional reforms and judicial system improvements.
