LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has unanimously approved the resolution on the demand to punish those responsible for the May 9 tragedy.

The House Monday remained in turmoil over various matter. It became difficult for the acting speaker to run the proceedings of the house.

the meeting presided over by the Punjab Assembly Acting Speaker Zaheer Chanar.
The opposition said the police were arresting their leaders, their houses were being raided and the IG has turned the police into a gangster force.

The opposition raised a ruckus in the house and demanded to summon the IG Punjab in the house.

Oppostion leader Rana Aftab said Punjab police was doing hooliganism.
“Our leaders are being arrested for doing any political activity. Cases are being registered. The House resounded with the slogans of lathi and gun government will not work, police bullying will not work,”they said.

The opposition pointed out the quorum three times after not rejecting the demands,
Twice the quorum was broken and the third time the government was able to fulfill the quorum.

The government passed the draft law on civil servants Punjab, Police Order 2024, Agricultural Marketing Regulatory Authority Punjab, etc. Bills were passed,

The resolution presented by Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) member Shoaib Siddiqui regarding the May 9 tragedy was also approved in the meeting.

It was said that this House demanded that the characters involved in the May 9 tragedy be brought to justice.
The masterminds and planners of May 9 should be severely punished.

The House also passed the resolution of the government member Iftikhar Chhachhar, in which it was said that the institutions should work within their own limits.

The resolution to ban the use of plastic bags was also approved, after completing the agenda, the meeting was adjourned till 2pm on June 13.
