National Moot Competition 2025 showcases outstanding legal advocacy, intellectual debates

LAHORE: The National Moot Competition 2025, hosted by Lahore School of Law, was a grand two-day event that showcased outstanding legal advocacy, intellectual debates, and critical discussions on environmental law and federalism. With 15 teams from leading law schools across the country, the competition proved to be a challenging yet enriching experience for all participants.

Day one began with a warm welcome, as the Registration and Ushering Teams ensured a smooth start for all teams. The competition officially kicked off with Preliminary Rounds 1 & 2, where teams presented well-researched arguments and tackled tough judicial questioning. A Panel Discussion on Water Scarcity in Pakistan was also held, featuring esteemed legal experts who shared insights on policy gaps and legal solutions for water conservation. The day concluded with a mesmerizing Sufi Qawwali Night, providing participants with a cultural and relaxing experience after an intense day of mooting.

Day 2 raised the stakes as teams competed in the Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and Grand Finale rounds, where the finest legal minds engaged in fierce arguments before an esteemed panel of judges. The Semi-Final rounds were adjudicated by Mr. Salman Ahmad Maan, Miss Shafaf Latif, Mr. Mehr Muhammad Iqbal, and Miss Ayesha Alam Khan, who evaluated the teams on their legal reasoning, advocacy skills, and ability to tackle complex judicial inquiries.

The Grand Finale was presided over by a distinguished panel of Chief Adjudicators, including Rabbiya Bajwa, Mr. Zeeshan Zafar Hashmi, Sohaib Ahmad Rumi, Miss Sahar Bandial, and Abdullah Faizi. Their expertise and keen evaluation ensured a rigorous and fair final round. After an intense legal battle, the team from Government College University (GCU) triumphed, securing the championship title while the team from the University of Central Punjab (UCP) finished as the runners-up with a commendable performance.

 

The competition was further honored by the presence of Retired Justice Muhammad Akram Qureshi (Lahore High Court), Retired Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi (Lahore High Court), Justice Anwar Hussain (Serving Judge, Lahore High Court), and Mr. Ali Ijaz (Deputy Director, Environmental Protection Agency, Government of Punjab), whose insights and presence added immense prestige to the event.

The event concluded with a Closing & Awards Ceremony, where special accolades such as Best Speaker, Best Researcher, and Best Memorial Awards were presented to recognize outstanding individual performances. The organizing team of Lahore School of Law received high praise for executing the event flawlessly, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for participants and adjudicators alike.

With the National Moot Competition 2025 raising the bar for legal advocacy, the success of this event has set the stage for future editions that promise even greater learning, competition, and professional growth.
