LAHORE (Web Desk) – Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Executive Committee member and Chairperson of the Women Empowerment and Culture Committee, Firdous Nisar, has lauded Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for reviving the Basant festival, terming it a visionary initiative that restored Punjab’s cultural vibrancy and social harmony.

In a statement, Firdous Nisar said Basant is an integral part of Punjab’s centuries-old cultural heritage, and its revival under CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership sent a positive message across the country and beyond. She noted that the festival not only reunited people from different regions but also revitalised economic activity linked to tourism, hospitality, crafts, and small businesses.
She appreciated the provincial government’s effective coordination among health, transport, security, and information departments, which ensured a peaceful and safe celebration. “This time, Basant proved that culture can be celebrated responsibly,” she said, adding that the absence of fatal incidents marked a historic shift.
Firdous Nisar further said that extending festivities on public demand reflected the people’s trust in the government’s cultural vision. She emphasized that such initiatives empower women, promote creative industries, and counter negativity with joy and unity.
“CM Maryam Nawaz has shown that culture, peace, and progress can go hand in hand,” she added.
