LCCI SVP welcomes IMF’s USD 1.2 billion disbursement, emphasizes reforms and rransparency

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has welcomed the International Monetary Fund’s approval of USD 1.2 billion in two loan tranches under the Extended Fund Facility and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, calling it a timely move to support Pakistan’s economic stability.

In a statement, LCCI Senior Vice President Muhammad Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh said the IMF’s decision reflects confidence in Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms. He noted that the inflow would help strengthen external financing, ease pressure on foreign exchange reserves, and contribute to macroeconomic resilience.
The LCCI leader expressed optimism that the IMF support would restore market confidence, help stabilize inflation, and support the government’s efforts toward economic recovery. He also welcomed the government’s commitment to finalizing a corruption-mitigation action plan by December 31, 2025, in line with IMF recommendations.
He stressed that transparency, accountability, and good governance are essential for sustainable economic growth, improved competitiveness, and increased investor confidence. He urged the government to implement strong institutional reforms to ensure fair practices, reduce leakages, and enhance regulatory efficiency.
Muhammad Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh stated that the private sector is ready to work closely with the government to implement reforms aimed at boosting industrial productivity, exports, investment, and employment. He reaffirmed that LCCI will continue to advocate policies that promote economic stability and long-term development in Pakistan.
