LAHORE, October 1, 2025 – In a major relief for traders and businessmen across Pakistan, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 15 days. The decision, warmly welcomed by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), is being seen as a win-win for both the government and the business community.

LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and FBR Chairman Rashid Langrial, calling the move a timely and much-needed step.
“This decision will not only make life easier for traders but also boost trust and confidence between the government and the business sector,” he said. “The business community is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and by listening to their concerns, the government has shown that it is serious about creating a business-friendly environment.”
LCCI Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh and Vice President Khurram Lodhi also applauded the move, saying that the Chamber has always stood by traders and voiced their concerns at every forum. They added that the extension proves the government is ready to embrace constructive dialogue and is committed to strengthening public-private partnership.
The new deadline is expected to bring huge relief to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), many of which struggle to meet filing deadlines due to lack of resources and time. With the extra days, businesses can now complete the process smoothly, while the government benefits from an expanded tax net and higher revenue collection.
Saigol further said that the LCCI will continue working with the government on ease of doing business, tax reforms, and economic stability, ensuring that the voice of the private sector is not only heard but acted upon. “The Lahore Chamber will keep serving as a bridge between the government and the business community, paving the way for sustainable economic growth, shared vision, and national progress,” he concluded.
