LAHORE: Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, visited the Chinese Consulate General Office in Lahore and conducted a meeting with Consul General Zhao Shiren.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the Special Protection Unit is diligently ensuring foolproof security arrangements for Chinese citizens across the province.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, paid a visit to the Chinese Consulate General Office where he met with Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren. Accompanying IG Punjab were DIG Special Protection Unit Muntazer Mehdi, DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran, and CTO Amara Athar. The meeting primarily focused on discussing security concerns regarding Chinese citizens, engineers, experts, and business delegations in Punjab.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the security of Chinese experts and citizens is of greatest importance for the department, reaffirming Punjab police’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding them. He highlighted the vigilant stance of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in ensuring the security of Chinese citizens and experts across the province. Furthermore, Dr. Usman Anwar underscored the enhanced security measures implemented for Chinese residents, including tightened patrolling by Punjab Police and the Punjab Highway Patrol team along the traffic routes frequented by Chinese citizens.
IG Punjab also noted the heightened security measures in place for the residences, offices, and working sites of Chinese citizens, emphasizing the concerted efforts to bolster their safety. Additionally, he acknowledged the invaluable support extended by China to Punjab Police in terms of information sharing, modern training, and capacity building.
In response, the Chinese Consul General expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements provided by the Punjab Police for Chinese experts and citizens involved in various projects, particularly the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Consul General Zhao Shiren lauded the Punjab Police for their commendable efforts in ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens, underscoring the significance of their collaborative endeavors.


Meanwhile, Minority delegation under the leadership of former provincial minister, Ejaz Alam Augustine, visited the Central Police Office.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has said that Punjab Police has increased security measures for churches, sacred minority religious sites, and Christian communities across the province. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the need for political leadership and the Christian community to collaborate with the police for the maintenance of peace. IG Punjab also praised Sargodha Police for their timely and intelligent actions under the leadership of the RPO and DPO, which effectively controlled the most challenging situations, deserving commendation. IG Punjab expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Minority leaders at the Central Police Office. Led by former provincial minister and assembly member Ejaz Alam Augustine, the Christian leaders visited the Central Police Office. Prominent religious and political leaders from the Christian community held a meeting with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar at his office. Assembly members MPA Tariq Gill, MPA Shakeela Arthar, MPA Waseem Sindhu, Bishop Asif, and social activist Samson Bhatti were part of the delegation.
Minority delegation praised the performance of Punjab Police in saving Christian families and properties during the Sargodha incident. Christian leaders suggested forming interfaith committees at the provincial and district levels to prevent such incidents in the future. During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including the security of the Christian community, interfaith harmony, tolerance, and promotion of brotherhood. Additional IG Operations Shahzada Sultan, acting AIG Operations Rana Omar Farooq, and other officers were present at the occasion.

Meanwhile, Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar is ensuring regular health welfare measure for police force and their families without interruption
IGP Punjab issued another 25 lakh rupees for the treatment of police employees and their families.
Under the leadership of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, priority measures are being taken for the health welfare of police employees, in continuation of which, IG Punjab has released another 25 lakh rupees for the treatment of police employees and their families.
According to details, Lahore Police’s Trainee Sub-Inspector Uzair Abbas has been granted 10 lakh rupees for bone marrow transplant and blood cancer treatment. Constable Rasool Bakhsh of Punjab Police has received 5 lakh rupees for liver transplant. ASI Ihtesham of Attock Police has been allocated 5 lakh rupees for his wife’s medical treatment. Constable Latif Ullah of Okara Police has been granted 2.5 lakh rupees for his wife’s bone cancer treatment. Ghazi Muhammad Imran Gill of Lahore Police has been provided with 2.5 lakh rupees for his medical treatment.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the best health and welfare of the police force is top priority, and full cooperation will continue to be extended. IG Punjab directed the Welfare Branch to continue more measures to provide medical facilities to the force from police welfare income.


Meanwhile, Punjab Police Khidmat Marakaz (PKMs) are providing excellent services to the citizens across the province.
Under the directives of Inspector General Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police Khidmat Marakaz across the province, are actively engaged in providing services to the citizens, in the provincial capital Lahore and throughout the province, 995 citizens availed services from Police Khidmat Marakaz last 24 hours. Of these, 824 citizens obtained police verification for various purposes, while 107 citizens obtained character certificates. Furthermore, 44 citizens got tenancy registrations, and 17 citizens got lost report registration.
According to the Punjab Police spokesman, in the past three months, over 566,000 citizens availed various services from Police Khidmat Marakaz (PKMs). More than 200,000 citizens obtained police verification, while 159,000 citizens obtained character certificates. Additionally, over 40,000 citizens got tenancy registrations, and nearly 18,000 citizens got lost report registration. Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that citizens are easily accessing over 14 services from Punjab Police’s state-of-the-art Khidmat Marakaz. These services include learner driving licenses, license renewals, and various other facilities.
