ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of a widespread heatwave expected to affect several parts of the country from June 7 to June 12, with temperatures forecast to rise well above normal levels.
According to the weather department, major cities and regions across Pakistan are likely to experience intense heat during the coming days. In Karachi, temperatures are expected to range between 40°C and 43°C throughout the period.
Several areas of Sindh and Balochistan could see mercury levels climb between 48°C and 51°C, making them among the hottest regions in the country.
Meanwhile, a number of districts in Punjab are likely to record temperatures between 44°C and 48°C. Similar conditions are expected in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where temperatures may reach 41°C to 46°C.
The PMD has advised the public to exercise caution during the heatwave and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during peak daytime hours between 10am and 4pm.
Citizens have also been urged to drink plenty of water, remain in shaded or cool environments where possible, and take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
Officials warned that vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly and individuals with existing health conditions, should take extra care as temperatures continue to rise across the country.
