ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: — In a significant step towards policy engagement with the business community, the Government of Pakistan has scheduled a high-level Sub-Committee meeting with representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and various chambers of commerce, including the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) which is currently being headed by LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad.
According to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, the meeting will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Committee Room, 4th Floor, Q-Block, Ministry of Finance, Islamabad.
The meeting will be chaired by Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industry and Production. Other prominent participants will include Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance & Revenue, Mr. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Trade, the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and designated representatives from FPCCI and regional chambers.
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), being one of the most influential voices of the business community, is expected to raise crucial issues concerning high taxation, electricity and gas tariffs, regulatory hurdles, and the need for export-led policies and industrial reforms. LCCI’s input is regarded as vital for the development of pragmatic and business-friendly economic strategies.
This Sub-Committee meeting follows the broader consultative session held on July 15, 2025, between the Prime Minister’s Committee and representatives of the business community. The government aims to incorporate feedback from LCCI and other chambers into future budgetary and industrial policy frameworks.
LCCI officials have welcomed the government’s initiative and reiterated the need for sustained dialogue between policymakers and the private sector to restore business confidence, attract investment, and promote sustainable economic growth.
