LAHORE: Chairman of the Founders Group, the largest representative body of traders and industrialists at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Ibrahim Sheikh has strongly urged the government to immediately resolve the legitimate demands of transport carriers to bring the ongoing strike to an end.

During a meeting with Chairman Transport Carriers Association Nabeel Mahmood, Muhammad Ibrahim Sheikh said that the transport sector is the backbone of the national economy and any disruption in its operations is causing serious damage to Pakistan’s overall economic activity.

He warned that the transport strike has brought the movement of goods to a standstill, severely affecting exports, imports and the supply of goods to local markets. As a result, he said, shortages are emerging in markets, leading to an inevitable rise in prices.

The leaders further stated that the failure to transport goods from industrial cities across the country to Karachi Port has placed exporters under immense pressure. Exporters are facing order cancellations, delivery delays and heavy penalties, causing significant financial losses to businesses and the industrial sector.

Muhammad Ibrahim Sheikh emphasized that the government must take immediate steps to overcome the crisis by taking all stakeholders on board. He stressed that the situation demands responsibility and unity rather than confrontation.

“This is not the time to turn issues into matters of ego, but to act with national cohesion and a sense of responsibility. The entire world is closely observing Pakistan’s economic direction, and we must focus on steering the country towards stability and prosperity instead of fueling internal disputes,” he said.
