LAHORE: In response to the looming flood threat in River Ravi, Lahore Police has been fully engaged to ensure the safety of the citizens’ properties and livelihoods.

In a statement issued here today, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that police were actively assisting in the evacuation of residents from flood-prone areas. “Lahore Police was working closely with the district administration to ensure safe relocation of affected communities to safer grounds,” the CCPO stated.

The police officers and personnel were playing a frontline role in relief and rescue efforts, with field officers monitoring rescue operations in the flood-hit zones, he said.

Kamyana noted that strong coordination has been established with the district administration, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and other line departments to streamline relief activities.

Police patrols have been intensified along the banks of River Ravi, particularly in vulnerable settlements. Security arrangements have also been put in place at relief camps set up for displaced citizens.

“The police force was fully alert and ready to respond promptly to any emergency situation,” said Kamyana. “Every measure was being taken to safeguard lives and property.”

The CCPO appealed to the public to act responsibly and avoid entering flood-affected areas. He urged the citizens to immediately contact the police helpline 15 in case of any emergency.
