RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Police have registered a case against the sisters of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, along with around 400 other supporters, following a sit-in outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday night.

The first information report (FIR) filed at Saddar Beroni Police Station invokes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, as well as Section 120 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for allegedly planning a criminal conspiracy against the state, attacking police personnel, and violating Section 144. Named in the FIR are Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, Qasim Khan, Aliya Hamza, Salman Akram Raja, Naeem Panjotha, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, among others.
According to police, 14 suspects were arrested on the spot and presented before an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. The FIR states that protesters raised slogans against the government, obstructed roads, interfered in police duties, and pelted stones and glass bottles at law enforcement officials.
Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, faces multiple cases ranging from corruption to terrorism following his removal from power via a no-confidence motion in April 2022. His detention has repeatedly sparked protests by PTI supporters, including sit-ins and scuffles with police and jail staff.
Authorities have previously ended other sit-ins, including one staged by Khan’s sister Uzma on December 2 and a 16-hour protest led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in November. Government officials, including Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, have indicated that Imran Khan could be transferred to another prison if necessary.
