(Web Desk) – British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is stepping into Bollywood with “Tu Mila Jaye,” a new song recorded for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, “King.” The track brings Sheeran together with celebrated Indian vocalist Arijit Singh, with music composed by Sachin-Jigar.

The collaboration marks Sheeran’s first song for a Bollywood film. The lyrics were written by Kumar, with Madhubanti Bagchi also contributing to the project. The song is part of the musical lineup for “King,” which is directed by Siddharth Anand and scheduled to reach cinemas on December 24.

Sheeran offered a glimpse into the recording process on November 3, sharing a studio video on Instagram. In the accompanying post, he recalled that Shah Rukh had asked him during their first meeting to create a song for the actor’s upcoming film.

Sheeran said the relationship developed into a friendship and that, during a previous visit to India, he went to Shah Rukh’s residence. The actor introduced him to Sachin-Jigar, the composer duo behind the song.

According to Sheeran, he wrote and recorded his part of “Tu Mila Jaye” on the same day he met the composers. He also expressed enthusiasm about working with Arijit Singh, whose vocals feature alongside his on the track.

The collaboration brings together artists with different musical backgrounds. Sheeran is known internationally for songwriting and pop performances, while Singh is among India’s prominent playback singers. Their pairing on a Hindi film song places the British artist in a new musical setting and adds an international element to the soundtrack.

Shah Rukh Khan acknowledged Sheeran’s contribution in an Instagram story, thanking him for being part of the project. He also highlighted his appreciation for Sheeran’s performance of the Hindi lyrics.

The song’s release comes as anticipation builds around “King,” a film led by Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Siddharth Anand. The December 24 release date places the production among the major titles planned for the year-end cinema period.

Details about the film’s broader soundtrack and the song’s release schedule have not been provided in the information shared by the artists. The studio video and messages from Sheeran and Shah Rukh, however, have drawn attention to the collaboration ahead of the film’s arrival.

For Sheeran, “Tu Mila Jaye” represents a new chapter in his work across languages and film industries. For “King,” the track adds a cross-border musical partnership to a project already drawing interest because of its leading star and director.
