LAHORE: Punjab Price Control and Commodities Management Department secretary Dr. Ehsan Bhutta emphasized the importance of highlighting historical sites among the youth, stating that restoring historical buildings can highlight a sense of responsibility in young people to value and protect their heritage. During a visit by a 45 member delegation from the Civil Services Academy to Poonch House and Sir Shadi Lal Building, Lytton Road, he provided a detailed briefing on the significance of these sites, including the Sardar Bhagat Singh Library and Ghazi Ilam Din Shaheed Gallery which showcase a blend of British, Sikh and Mughal architectural styles, featuring intricate woodwork, stained glass and restored structures that reflect the rich cultural legacy of the region.

Dr. Bhutta highlighted the role of interactive exhibitions, guided tours, educational programs and community involvement in raising awareness among young people about preserving historical heritage, encouraging them to appreciate the significance of these sites and take pride in their cultural identity. The delegation praised the Punjab government’s initiatives to pay tribute to the heroes of the subcontinent, noting the importance of incorporating historical education into the curriculum to educate future generations about their cultural legacy and promote interfaith harmony, as exemplified by the construction of Bhagat Singh and Sir Shadi Lal galleries. The visit aimed to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among the youth for preserving Pakistan’s rich historical heritage. Special Secretary Industries Department Nosheen Malik presented bouquet to the delegation at poonch house. Consultants Malik Maqsood Ahmed and Muhammad Hassan also briefed the delegation about history of these buildings. XEN C&W were also present at this occasion.
