BEIJING: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has said Chinese companies will be given preferential facilities for investment in Punjab.

She reaching Shanghai on her 3rd day visit to China, met Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Party of China, Mr. Zhao Zhongming, who expressed his determination to further strengthen economic relations between Punjab and Shanghai. He also emphasized on the need to further promote cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology and industry.

Madam Chief Minister thanked Chinese Government for providing training and education opportunities to Pakistani students and experts. She invited Shanghai-based companies to invest in Punjab’s Special Economic Zone. She said,”Shanghai’s emergence as a global financial and trade hub is commendable.” She added,”We want to collaborate with Shanghai-based companies in various sectors including automobiles, IT, semiconductor and robotics.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,”IT industry in Pakistan is thriving due to capacity building of the experts with the help of Chinese companies.” She added,”Pakistan’s IT sector has a potential to develop as per the vision of President Xi Jinping.” She highlighted,”Punjab Government is fully prepared to promote IT sector with the help of Shanghai authorities.”

Madam Chief Minister said,”Pakistan and China came closer during the visit of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif to China.” She added,”Affinity with the Chinese people is in my blood.” She underscored,”Game-changing projects like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were launched only during the visit of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif to China.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,”After many years of political and economic instability, Pakistan’s economic indicators are moving towards growth.” She added,”Chinese companies will be given preferential facilities for investment in Punjab.”

Mr. Zhou Zhongming said in the meeting,”Trade, investment, infrastructure and people-to-people contacts will further enhance bilateral friendly ties.”

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif along with her delegation reached China Museum of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai, where she was warmly welcomed by the CPC Museum authorities. She was given a detailed briefing on the historical journey of the evolution of the Communist Party of China, and was shown the visual history of the revolution.

Madam Chief Minister was apprised of the struggle of Chairman Mao Zedong during the Chinese revolution,
the war with the British Army, the Russian Revolution and the journey of the establishment of the Communist Party of China. All historical events from the establishment of the Communist Party to the assumption of power of the current President Xi Jinping were highlighted in the briefing.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated the digital history at the CPC Museum, and recorded her impressions in a book placed at the CPC Museum. She said,”Visual observation of China’s history is an extraordinary and memorable experience.” She added,”China has performed an extraordinary miracle in the world history.” She noted,”The 130-year history of the Communist Party of China is displayed in the CPC Museum.”

Madam Chief Minister said,”The evolution of the Communist Party has changed not only China but the entire world.” She added,”Not only Pakistan but the entire world is benefiting from the rise of China.” She underscored,”Chinese people have made exemplary efforts for development and prosperity.”

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,”China has proven that if leadership is sincere and determination for development is strong, no force can stop you from developing.” She added,”China’s development and prosperity are exemplary models for the developing countries.”

Madam Chief Minister expressed her desire to move forward together with China on the journey of development. She took pictures in front of the mural at the CPC Museum, and expressed interest in the statues of Chinese leadership. She also observed various objects used in the ancient times in China, and expressed surprise and joy at seeing the statue meeting of the Chinese leadership.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also visited the site of the first National Congress of the CPC. She said,”The CPC Museum effectively showcases historical facts about the history of China and Shanghai, and the events of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party.”

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif reached Minhang District Industrial Zone in Shanghai to visit Hongqaio Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, She expressed deep interest in the products displayed there, and visited the Pakistani pavilion set up at Hongqaio Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center. She expressed happiness over meeting a young businessman marketing Pakistani products there.

Madam Chief Minister was briefed about various sections of the exhibition. She expressed deep interest in the e-commerce sector, and directed the Punjab officials to study e-commerce and take steps to promote it in Punjab. She said,”Nawaz Sharif wants to establish IT City to promote IT products in Punjab.” She added,”Special steps will be taken to promote e-commerce in Nawaz Sharif IT City.”

The Chief Minister visited Jinko Solar company in Shanghai. A detailed briefing was given to her and her team on the Solar Technology and quality solar products of Jinko Company. It was emphasized on the transfer of solar technology and information exchange between China and Punjab government.  She offered Jinko Solar Company to set up a manufacturing plant in Punjab.  On the direction of CM Punjab, the Punjab government team will undertake working and provide support for establishing for solar manufacturing plant.

On the  persuasion of CM, the Jinko Solar company will also establish a charging station in Punjab. She also invited Jinko Solar to hold partnership in green energy projects in Punjab. She expressed her commitment to renewable and affordable solar energy projects in Punjab and appreciated Jinko Company’s strives for promoting innovation in solar technology.

She said,  “Solar panel mega project has been launched for the people in Punjab province. In view of energy demand and environmental problems, solar energy is a dire need for Punjab.  There are excellent opportunities for solar energy production in Pakistan, especially in Punjab.”

She maintained, “We will reduce dependence on traditional fuels by using solar energy. We can also reduce electricity cost and mitigate hazardous effects of climate change through solar energy.  Punjab government is committed to providing affordable and sustainable energy to the people. The Punjab government will provide solar energy to the public institutions, residential areas and rural communities. It is our commitment to make Punjab a renewable energy hub.”
