IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar awarded commendation letters, certificates, and cash prizes to the heroes of the Sargodha incident, including the RPO, DPO, and other distinguished officers

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, stated that Sargodha Police acted on the principle of “Faith Produces Certainty,” and with timely intervention, prevented a major tragedy.

From senior command to constable level, every officer and official displayed exceptional courage, bravery, and professionalism to ensure the protection of valuable human lives. IG Punjab declared Head Constable Anees-ur-Rehman as the “Hero of the Day” for rescuing a civilian in the Rescue 1122 vehicle despite intense stone-pelting. He mentioned that Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif also specially praised the performance of Sargodha Police, despite the most challenging conditions, the timely action and steadfastness of Sargodha Police have received significant acclaim at national and international level. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that the outstanding performance of our heroes has positively highlighted the image of Punjab Police in the eyes of civil society and all sections of society, which is commendable. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in honor of the heroes of Sargodha Police who saved citizens from a violent mob.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar awarded commendation letters, certificates, and cash prizes to the heroes of the Sargodha incident, including the RPO, DPO, and others. According to the details, RPO Sargodha Shariq Kamal Siddiqui, DPO Sargodha Asad Ijaz Malhi, SP Investigation Farhan Aslam, Head Constable Anees-ur-Rehman, Sub-Inspector Fahad Bilal, and SHO Anam Sarfaraz were awarded special commendation letters. SP Ziaullah, ASP Abdul Sami Sheikh, Inspectors Bilal Aziz, and Azhar Nadeem were also encouraged with commendation letters. Sub-Inspectors Shahid Iqbal, Muhammad Razzaq, ASI Zia-ur-Rehman, and Constables Liaqat Salam, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Abid Hussain were given commendation certificates and cash prizes. Additional IG Punjab, DIG Headquarters, AIG Discipline, SP Headquarters Lahore, ASP Naulakha, and other officers also appreciated the exemplary efforts of Sargodha Police at the ceremony.

Under the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the crackdown on metallic kite strings and kite flyers has been intensified across the province, including Lahore, to protect precious human lives and targeted police operations are ongoing in major cities.
Punjab Police spokesman shared that this year, 4147 cases have been registered across the province in action against kite flying. Legal action has been taken against 4277 suspects involved in kite flying, resulting in their arrest. A total of 244,470 kites and 16,878 metallic kite strings have been seized from the suspects.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that the crackdown be continued without interruption throughout the province. He emphasized that suspects involved in online kite flying business or secretly by fake names should be apprehended and brought to justice with appropriate punishments. IG Punjab said that criminals endangering human lives do not deserve any leniency, and targeted operations led by circle officers should be intensified across the province.


Under the directive of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, priority measures for the best health welfare of police employees and their families continue to be implemented. Continuing this effort, IG Punjab has released over 1.9 million rupees for the treatment of children of police employees suffering from severe illnesses.

According to details, Inspector Muhammad Afzal of Kasur Police was granted 1 million rupees for the kidney transplant operation of his son, Uzair Afzal. Constable Aman Ullah of Sargodha Police received 250,000 rupees for the treatment of his son, Hassan Aman, who is battling blood cancer. Constable Kamran of Lahore Police was granted 250,000 rupees for the treatment of his 2-year-old son. Constable Husnain Sharif of Lodhran Police received 250,000 rupees for the heart treatment of his 1-year-old son, Musa. Traffic Warden Muhammad Ashraf Hussain was granted 162,000 rupees for the heart surgery of his 1.5-year-old son, Muhammad Hameem.

These funds were released by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar after scrutiny and approval by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the police force is a family, and no member or their family will be left alone in the battle against illness, and department will continue to provide all possible support for the best medical treatment.
