LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has commended the police team for the prompt arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in a bank robbery, reiterating that the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the Lahore Police’s foremost responsibility.
He said no negligence would be tolerated in ensuring the safety and security of citizens. The police should take all possible measures to protect citizens and utilise available resources to make action against criminal elements more effective, he added.
The CCPO said modern technology was playing an important role in tracing and apprehending suspects involved in heinous crimes. He directed police officers to further improve operations against criminals and make effective use of technology to bring offenders to justice.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed the police to ensure foolproof security arrangements at banks and financial institutions and strictly enforce prescribed security protocols. He also called for regular monitoring of security arrangements and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), with immediate corrective measures in case of any deficiency or negligence.
He directed that special attention be given to the professional training of bank security guards. The guards should be trained in accordance with modern security requirements so that they could respond effectively to any emergency situation, he said.
The CCPO also directed divisional SPs to regularly monitor security arrangements at banks and financial institutions in their respective areas.
He made it clear that negligence in the security of banks and financial institutions would not be tolerated and that action would be taken against those found responsible for any lapse.
