Accused arrested in Patoki journalist murder case; provincial law minister vommends DSP circle Patoki

LAHORE: January 21:: On the special directions of Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, police conducted a prompt and effective operation and arrested the accused involved in the murder of journalist Jamil Gujjar, a reporter of a private newspaper in Patoki. The Provincial Law Minister appreciated the performance of DSP Circle Patoki and the police team and commended them for their timely action.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said that the murder of journalist Jamil Gujjar is a tragic and condemnable incident, and the accused involved will be awarded exemplary punishment in accordance with the law so that such incidents may be prevented in the future.

The Provincial Law Minister clarified that the maintenance of law and order is the top priority of the Punjab Government and no negligence in this regard will be tolerated. He said that the protection of the journalist community is the responsibility of the government and will be ensured at all costs.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan further stated that journalists have the right to perform their professional duties without fear and the government is taking all possible measures to safeguard freedom of the press. He categorically said that there will be no compromise on the supremacy of law and that whoever the criminal may be, he will be brought to justice. The Provincial Law Minister directed the police to take the investigation to its logical conclusion.
