LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a notification reassigning 31 officers from various Customs departments across Pakistan to the Central Appraising Unit of the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement (SAPT) in Karachi. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has welcomed this decision, terming it a step toward resolving longstanding grievances of the business community regarding delays in goods clearance.

LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, in a statement, praised the move, highlighting its significance in improving operational efficiency and ensuring smooth trade facilitation.
He revealed that the Chamber had previously raised the issue of clearance delays at ports with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and urged the government to deploy honest and competent staff across all customs stations.
“This reshuffling reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing transparency and resolving trade-related issues, which is vital for the growth of our economy,” said Mian Abuzar Shad.
According to Notification No. 0636-C-III/2025, issued on March 25, 2025, the officers, including Principal Appraisers and Appraising Officers, have been reassigned from Collectorates in Lahore, Peshawar, and Kohat. They are required to assume their new roles at SAPT by April 7, 2025.
The list of officers is as follows:
1. Syed Muhammad Jaffar, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement (West), Lahore.
2. Ghulam Nabi Zafar, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Collectorate of Customs (Airports), Lahore.
3. Saqib Nazir Khan, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement (East), Lahore.
4. Ijaz Ahmad Siddique, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Collectorate of Customs (Airports), Lahore.
5. Muhammad Yousaf Ansari, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Collectorate of IOCO, Lahore.
6. Amjad Akhtar, Principal Appraiser (BS-17), from the Directorate of I&I-Customs, Lahore.
7. Junaid Malik, Principal Appraiser (BS-16), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar.
8. Fahim Ullah Khan, Appraising Officer (BS-16), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar.
9. Samiullah, Appraising Officer (BS-16), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar.
10. Junaid Hashmat, Appraising Officer (BS-16), from the Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Peshawar.

The FBR has instructed all officers to submit their charge relinquishment and assumption reports immediately after completing the transition to ensure proper record-keeping.
This reshuffling is part of FBR’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and streamline customs operations at the SAPT terminal, a critical hub for trade and commerce.
