LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the construction of a medical college, girls’ hostel and underpass in Okara. She also exhibited Core i7 laptops purchased for the students. She made an enthusiastic speech at the University of Okara and congratulated the students. She announced to complete projects of the University of Okara under her supervision along with introducing laptops for the students soon.
She said, “The largest scholarship program in the history of Pakistan was named ‘Honhaar Scholarship’ by herself. Okara is a beautiful city and is very close to Nawaz Sharif and my heart. I cannot express in words the amount of joy by seeing talented students in Okara. I have come to talk to the children from the core of my heart.

Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has earned profound appreciation from the children.”
She added, “I have come myself to handover scholarships to the children. I did not sit in my office during the month of January but went from city to city to meet the children. The children say that they had heard that the state acts like a mother and deem Maryam Nawaz Sharif as an embodiment of a mother. I think and work more for my students than for my children. My relationship with the students is the most valuable asset of my life. The love I receive from children in 10 to 11 months is my great asset.”
CM Punjab said, “It is the foremost responsibility of the Punjab government to give laptops to children who cannot afford to buy. I will myself give laptops to the children by visiting them. We will also provide one lakh e-bikes to the children for college transportation. Not everyone has the same financial resources but now we will share their financial burden by giving them scholarships. Parents should not worry about the education of their children, now the state will bear the expenses.”
She said, “The people should have direct access with those holding public offices. The talented students are getting scholarships without any discrimination on merit. By giving Honhaar scholarships to the children, I thank Allah Almighty for granting me this honour. Honhaar scholarships are the beginning of fulfilling dreams. Now even children with low incomes can study in LUMS, NUST and FAST universities.”
She added, “Students should focus their 100 percent attention on building their careers. They should work hard and I will provide resources to fulfill their dreams. Honhaar scholarships are not favours, but a reward for hard work and recognition of their ability. Children getting deprive of education due to dearth of resources is a great loss. I want to redress it by going from city to city.”
CM Punjab said, “Second and third year students will also get Honhaar scholarships. We will give Honhaar scholarships to 50 thousand students next year. No child in Punjab should remain deprived of education. The students should be my strength, courage and motivation. I want to make students stakeholders to the serve the people and for uplift of the province. The passion of students is my motivation and hope.”
She said, “Our students are hardworking and intelligent as well. They are also the builders of the country’s future. Everyone will have to show loyalty to the dear mother land. Nawaz Sharif said that the children have given you a lot of love and you should do a lot for their well-being. Who are these people who are burning our homes while staying among us?”
She added, “I deem every child as my own responsible like a mother. Our country needs unity instead of hatred, disregards chaos, promotes peace and wants to make progress instead of anarchy. The boat capsized on its way to Spain, I expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious human lives. Wherever you go, take care of the country’s honour.”
She said, “No matter what happens, there should be no discrimination in the respect for mothers, sisters and daughters. Children will be given laptops instead of nail sticks in their hands. Those who set off petrol bombs are in jail now. Parents worked hard on their up bringing. It is the duty of the youth to protect their lives. The duties towards parents should be fulfilled equally along with the duties towards dear mother land. Burning the uniforms of those fighting on the borders and breaking their skulls is not a friend.”
She added, “Do not believe blindly what you see on the social media, examine it with your critical evaluation and conscience. Despite giving historic and mega project, we were called labelled as thieves. We were called thieves but corruption not a single penny of corruption was proved and the government was toppled on the pretext of Iqama only. They also accused me, all the powerful stakeholders bent upon proving thief, but miserably failed.”
CM Punjab said, “He is the first Prime Minister in the history who was caught red-handed while stealing. He will be the first Prime Minister who was overthrown on getting bribe. The stock market rose 100 points high as soon as the verdict was announced. When sedition goes down, the nation progresses. We faced 150 trials and bravely fought against false accusations. My cell in Adiala Jail was monitored by cameras. When we were in jail, we could not meet our family. We got food once in 24 hours.”
She said, “I spent imprisonment in scorching heat but did not persuade others to burn down public properties. Today, if he gets more facilities in jail, does not affect me. The children of Al-Qadir University will also be given laptops, scholarships and e-bikes. The students were gaven scholarships on 100 percent merit and now they should change the destiny of their country on 100 percent merit. The poor man’s ride metro bus has been labelled as jangla bus. The politics of service has been made a joke as politics is the name of service and worship.”
She added, “Thousands of houses are being built in Punjab and 30,000 children are imparted educated free of cost. It is the responsibility of the youth to transform the political narrative of revenge, abuse and incitement into a narrative of development. I can say on oath that no Minister, Secretary, or Deputy Commissioner is appointed on any recommendation and always posted them on merit. Now even the assembly members do not come to me for any recommendation.”
CM Punjab said, “The culture of mischief, sedition should be brought into politics of tolerance. The negative narrative should be brought into a positive narrative of improvement among the lives of the people. The green flag is in the hands of the youth, they should make a promise that they will not let it fall down. The youth should pledge to love their dear homeland and will never betray it.”
