LAHORE: The Customs Collectorate Airports, under heightened vigilance measures, thwarted a smuggling attempt on Fly Dubai’s flight FZ-325 arriving from Dubai at Multan Airport.
A through scan of suspicious passengers and their baggage led to the detection and seizure of a substantial quantity of high-value items.
The seized goods include:
54 mobile phones valued at Rs 18,000,000, 10 smartwatches valued at Rs 1,700,000, 5 headphones worth Rs 200,000, 4 Xiaomi security cameras valued at Rs 50,000 and 60 charging adaptors worth Rs 50,000
The total approximate value of the confiscated items is Rs 20 million, with estimated duties and taxes amounting to Rs 6.6 million.
The operation was led by Madam Tayyeba Kayani, Collector of Customs at Lahore Airports, with support from Syed Ali Akber and Maryum Jamila, Deputy Collector at Multan Airport. Hassan Saqib Sheikh, Chief Collector of Customs Airports, appreciated the team’s efforts in foiling the smuggling attempt.
Collector Customs Airports Tayyeba Kayani stated the vigilance and proactive scanning measures played a crucial role in uncovering the smuggling attempt. Investigations are underway to identify the culprits and their network.
