LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Punjab Executive Committee has expressed serious concerns over the Punjab government’s agricultural policies and said that our food security is at stake.
Instead of relief, farmers are facing agricultural, aquaculture, super tax and livestock taxes. The country that used to export cotton is now importing it which is highly condemnable.
Talking to the media after the PPP Punjab Executive Committee meeting, Hassan Murtaza, Rana Farooq Saeed, Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Faisal Mir and Abid Siddiqui said: “Why are they squeezing our blood in the name of super tax? When we protest, they say that they interfere in administrative matters. We want the PPP to be taken into confidence in all matters”.
The Punjab Chief Minister should admit that the PPP was not involved in policy making.
It is demanded that Punjab should take decisions by taking the PPP into confidence. If the farmers are not saved, the Kisan Tehreek government will pay dearly.
