KARACHI: A local importer from Hyderabad has filed a petition challenging SRO 1637(I)/2024, issued on October 18, 2024, which explained changes in Pakistan Customs’ administrative structure. The petitioner, Haji Razzak, contends the SRO unlawfully shifted customs clearance jurisdiction from Hyderabad to Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Karachi. He said the restructuring, executed without legal authority, places an unwarranted for burden on importers in Hyderabad, increasing operational costs and travel. The court has directed the petitioner to clarify the maintainability of the petition in the next hearing, which will be scheduled in due course.
