BEIJING (Web Desk) – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed direct flight operations between Pakistan and China, restoring air connectivity between Islamabad and Beijing after the first flight operated on October 30.

The resumption marks an important development in strengthening aviation links between the two countries and restoring the national flag carrier’s presence in the Chinese market.

Under the renewed flight schedule, PIA will operate one weekly flight between Islamabad and Beijing every Friday, offering passengers a direct travel option between the two capitals.

The airline aims to provide competitive fares while maintaining regular and reliable services to facilitate passengers travelling between Pakistan and China.

The restoration of the route is expected to benefit students, businesspeople, tourists, families and members of the Pakistani and Chinese communities who regularly travel between the two countries.

Weekly Friday flights to improve connectivity

The Islamabad-Beijing service is designed to provide a convenient connection between the two capitals without requiring passengers to depend entirely on indirect routes through other international destinations.

The weekly schedule will allow passengers to plan their journeys around a regular departure day, particularly those travelling for educational, professional and commercial purposes.

For Pakistani students studying at Chinese universities, the direct service could make travel between their educational institutions and home more convenient.

Business travellers and investors may also benefit from the restored connection, particularly those involved in trade, industrial cooperation and commercial activities between the two countries.

The service is also expected to facilitate travel for families and tourists while providing another option for people visiting China for professional and personal reasons.

PIA strengthens cooperation with Chinese airlines

In a further step towards expanding its operations across China, PIA has strengthened cooperation with three leading Chinese airlines: Air China, Shenzhen Airlines and Hainan Airlines.

These partnerships are intended to improve passenger connectivity and provide additional travel options for passengers arriving in Beijing.

Through its cooperation with Air China, passengers travelling from Islamabad to Beijing will be able to access onward connections to various domestic destinations across China.

Beijing serves as an important aviation hub, allowing international passengers to connect with domestic flights serving different Chinese cities.

The arrangement could make it easier for Pakistani travellers whose final destinations are located beyond the Chinese capital.

Cooperation with Shenzhen Airlines and Hainan Airlines also forms part of PIA’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the Chinese aviation market and expand the travel options available to its passengers.

Boost expected for trade and educational exchanges

The restoration of direct flights is expected to support broader economic and social engagement between Pakistan and China.

Both countries maintain extensive cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development, education and technology. Regular air connectivity can help facilitate meetings, business visits and communication between companies and institutions.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has also created opportunities for increased interaction between businesses, government officials, technical experts and professionals from both countries.

Direct air services can provide additional convenience for individuals involved in these activities, particularly those who frequently travel between major cities.

Educational exchanges may also benefit from improved connectivity as thousands of Pakistani students pursue higher education and professional training opportunities in China.

Similarly, Chinese business representatives, investors and technical personnel travelling to Pakistan may benefit from the availability of more convenient direct connections.

PIA focuses on restoring international operations

The resumption of the Beijing route comes as PIA continues efforts to restore and strengthen its international flight network.

Maintaining regular international services is important for the airline’s operations, passenger confidence and commercial development.

The return to the Chinese market also provides PIA with an opportunity to improve its regional connectivity through cooperation with established Chinese aviation companies.

The airline has indicated its intention to offer competitive fares while maintaining consistent and reliable flight operations.

However, the long-term success of the restored service will depend on passenger demand, operational reliability and the airline’s ability to maintain its announced schedule.

Strengthening Pakistan-China people-to-people relations

The renewed Islamabad-Beijing air connection represents more than a direct travel facility between the two capitals. It also provides an opportunity to strengthen communication and interaction between the people of Pakistan and China.

Improved air connectivity can facilitate tourism, cultural activities, educational exchanges and commercial partnerships while making international travel more convenient.

With weekly Friday flights restored and cooperation strengthened with three Chinese airlines, PIA is seeking to expand its reach in the Chinese market and provide passengers with better access to destinations across the country.

The resumption is expected to contribute to stronger aviation links and support the broader relationship between Pakistan and China.
