LAHORE (Sports Reporter): The National Kickboxing Championship 2026 will be held at the Sports Complex in Lahore from Nov 13 to 15, bringing together teams from across Pakistan for three days of competition.
According to Pakistan Kickboxing Secretary Rana Zahid, teams representing the four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and four institutional units will participate in the championship.
WAKO Asia President Nasir Nasiri will attend the opening ceremony as the chief guest following a special invitation from Pakistan Kickboxing President Syed Shehryar Ali, Rana Zahid said.
He added that the championship would be conducted in accordance with WAKO Asia rules and regulations, with the event report to be submitted to WAKO World.
Four disciplines, 11 categories
Rana Zahid said the championship would feature four disciplines: K-1, low kick, point fighting and kick light, with competitions held across 11 different categories.
Each participating team would comprise two officials, while athletes would be provided with the necessary facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
He said the championship would provide a competitive platform for kickboxers from different regions and institutions to demonstrate their skills and compete for national honours.
Medical fitness seminar planned
A medical fitness seminar will also be organised under the supervision of Syed Asad Abbas Shah, chairman of the Pakistan Olympic Association’s Medical Commission.
The seminar will focus on athletes’ medical fitness and health-related aspects of competitive sports, providing participants with guidance on maintaining their physical condition.
Top performers to be considered for international events
Rana Zahid said athletes delivering outstanding performances at the championship would be considered for inclusion in a training camp for international competitions scheduled for next year.
He said the initiative would help identify talented kickboxers and prepare them for upcoming international challenges.
The championship is expected to provide an opportunity to assess athletes’ performances, strengthen the national talent pool and promote kickboxing across Pakistan.
