LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ali Hussam Asghar held an important meeting with Lahore Deputy Commissioner Capt. (retd.) Muhammad Ali Ejaz to discuss issues confronting the city’s business and industrial community.
The meeting focused on measures to improve coordination between the district administration and the business community and to create a more conducive environment for commercial and industrial activities in Lahore.
During the meeting, Ali Hussam Asghar highlighted several concerns raised by traders and industrialists and stressed the need for practical measures to address them through consultation and institutional coordination.
The LCCI president discussed the proposed use of body cameras by personnel of the para force to promote transparency and accountability during enforcement activities. He also emphasised the importance of ensuring respect, protection and facilitation for industrial establishments and businesses operating in Lahore.
Another key issue discussed during the meeting was the alleged registration of unnecessary or unjustified first information reports (FIRs) against traders and industrialists. The LCCI president called for appropriate mechanisms to prevent such cases and ensure that genuine business-related concerns are addressed through dialogue before legal action is initiated, where appropriate.
Ali Hussam Asghar also proposed greater coordination between the district administration and the business community through the establishment of a joint action committee. Such a platform, he said, could provide a structured mechanism for identifying problems, discussing regulatory and enforcement-related issues and finding timely solutions.
The meeting also covered the broader need for effective communication between government authorities and representatives of the business community. The LCCI president stressed that regular engagement could help prevent misunderstandings and enable authorities to respond more efficiently to issues affecting commercial and industrial activities.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Capt. (retd.) Muhammad Ali Ejaz discussed matters related to the administration’s engagement with the business community and the importance of maintaining an environment conducive to economic activity.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) Kashif Jaleel was also present during the meeting.
The participants emphasised the importance of joint efforts to facilitate businesses, resolve problems at the district level and strengthen coordination between the administration and the private sector.
Ali Hussam Asghar said continued engagement between the LCCI and district administration could contribute to resolving issues faced by traders and industrialists more efficiently. He stressed that a business-friendly administrative environment was essential for sustaining investment, industrial activity and employment.
The meeting comes amid growing emphasis on improving public-private coordination and ensuring that enforcement measures do not unnecessarily disrupt legitimate commercial activity.
The proposed joint action committee could serve as a regular forum for communication between the two sides, allowing business representatives to raise concerns directly with relevant administrative officials and seek timely resolutions.
The LCCI leadership has maintained that effective coordination between government institutions and the private sector is essential for promoting economic activity and addressing practical challenges faced by businesses.
The participants agreed on the importance of continued dialogue and coordinated efforts to facilitate the business community and strengthen the working relationship between the Lahore administration and representatives of the city’s traders and industrialists.
