LAHORE: A large-scale free meal programme at H.H. Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, is providing daily support to thousands of patients and their attendants, particularly those belonging to low-income families and remote areas.
The 1,400-bed hospital was donated in 1986 by the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as a welfare project aimed at providing healthcare facilities to the people of Rahim Yar Khan and surrounding regions. Since its establishment, the hospital has remained a major healthcare institution serving thousands of patients every year.
Many patients who visit the hospital travel from distant areas and face financial challenges during their treatment. To reduce their burden, the hospital provides two free meals daily to patients and their attendants.
Under the initiative, around 2,650 patients and attendants receive free meals every day through an organized distribution system. The programme ensures that families staying with patients have access to regular meals without facing additional financial pressure.
Hospital administration also places special focus on the quality and quantity of food being provided. Meals are inspected by doctors on duty to ensure that the food meets the required health and safety standards.
The free meal initiative reflects the welfare mission behind the establishment of H.H. Sheikh Zayed Hospital and continues to provide essential humanitarian assistance to thousands of patients and their families.
Along with its medical services, the programme has further strengthened the hospital’s role as a healthcare and welfare institution for the people of Rahim Yar Khan and nearby areas.
