LAHORE – Two significant gatherings in Lahore highlighted the achievements of women professionals and celebrated Pakistan’s Independence spirit as the National Women Journalists Forum hosted a Mango Party for women journalists, while Creator International organized an Independence Day poetry recital at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
The Mango Party was organized by the National Women Journalists Forum under the leadership of President Farzana Chaudhry at the Lahore Press Club in honour of senior media personalities and young achievers.
The event celebrated the appointment of Senior Producer PTV Mubashara Sultan as head of the PTV Current Affairs Department, Senior Journalist Sofia Yazdani’s achievement of the Pride of Performance award and Hajj pilgrimage, and the outstanding matriculation results of Maham Tajamul and Iman Fatima.
A large number of women journalists participated in the gathering and appreciated the initiative of the forum’s office-bearers. Senior journalists including Atiya Zaidi, Darakhshanda Alamdar, Rafia Nahid Ikram, Sadia Salahuddin, Rabia Azmat, Dr Saima Iqbal, Iffat Alvi and others attended the event.
Meanwhile, Creator International arranged an Independence Day poetry recital at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Lahore, featuring poets from across the country.
The gathering was presided over by renowned jurist, poet, writer and columnist Syed Mahmud-ul-Hassan Gilani, while poet Arham Rohan hosted the event. Special guests included Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz Kanwal, Zaki-ud-Din Qureshi, Dr Fazal Bano and Colonel Saadatullah.
Renowned poets including Mumtaz Rashid Lahori, Ashfaq Falak, Mian Anis Ahmed, Matin Kashmiri, Dr Nighat Khurshid, Mubay Asim, Meh Jabin Malik and others presented their poetry. National songs were also performed during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Syed Mahmud-ul-Hassan Gilani said Pakistan was achieved after great sacrifices by the elders and the nation should always remember their struggle and contributions.
The event concluded with appreciation for the participating poets and guests, followed by a dinner arrangement for attendees.
