TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Iran has reaffirmed that its armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any security challenge, saying military modernization and operational readiness remain top priorities as tensions continue across the Middle East.

Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said the country’s defence forces are continuously strengthening their capabilities through indigenous technology, upgraded weapons systems and enhanced operational planning. He said the military remains vigilant and is closely monitoring developments across the region to ensure an immediate response to any potential threat.

The latest statement comes as regional security remains fragile following months of military confrontation, diplomatic disputes and heightened tensions involving several countries. Iranian officials maintain that strengthening defence capabilities is a strategic necessity aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty and deterring external aggression.

According to Akraminia, Iran’s armed forces are regularly conducting assessments of operational requirements while integrating modern military equipment developed by domestic industries. He said local production has enabled the military to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and improve the reliability of its defence infrastructure.

The spokesman added that training exercises, organizational reforms and continuous upgrades of military assets are being carried out to maintain a high level of combat readiness. He stressed that Iran’s defence policy remains focused on preparedness and deterrence rather than initiating conflict.

Iran has significantly invested in its domestic defence sector over the past several years, expanding missile technology, air defence systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare capabilities. Officials say these programmes are intended to strengthen the country’s defensive posture amid an increasingly uncertain regional environment.

Military analysts note that Tehran has consistently emphasized self-reliance in defence production, arguing that international sanctions have accelerated investment in indigenous military industries. Iranian authorities frequently describe locally manufactured equipment as a key element of national security strategy.

The statement also follows renewed diplomatic exchanges and security discussions involving several Middle Eastern countries. While diplomatic efforts continue on multiple regional issues, military preparedness remains a central feature of Iran’s national security policy.

Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged that communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei remains difficult because of his medical condition following injuries sustained during earlier military attacks. Despite limited public appearances, Iranian officials insist the country’s leadership continues to oversee national affairs and strategic decision-making.

The absence of the supreme leader from public events has fueled international speculation regarding Iran’s internal political dynamics. However, government officials have dismissed such reports, maintaining that state institutions continue to function normally and that military command structures remain fully operational.

Iranian authorities have repeatedly warned that any attack on the country would receive a decisive response. Officials say the armed forces remain capable of defending the country’s territorial integrity while protecting critical infrastructure and national interests.

Security experts believe continued military modernization reflects Tehran’s effort to maintain strategic deterrence amid evolving regional threats. They note that developments in missile technology, drone capabilities and air defence systems remain central to Iran’s long-term defence planning.

Regional observers say military preparedness has become increasingly important as geopolitical competition, maritime security concerns and unresolved conflicts continue to shape the Middle East’s security landscape. They add that while diplomatic engagement remains essential, countries across the region are simultaneously investing in stronger defence capabilities to address emerging challenges.

Iranian officials have reiterated that the country’s defence doctrine is based on protecting national sovereignty and ensuring stability. They say continued modernization of the armed forces will remain a priority as regional security conditions evolve.
