KARACHI (Web Desk) – Karachi police claimed a major success against street crime after two suspected robbers were killed during an alleged encounter in the Ferozabad area, with officers recovering a stolen vehicle and weapons as investigations continued to identify the suspects’ wider criminal network.
The encounter took place within the limits of Ferozabad Police Station during a targeted operation based on intelligence regarding the movement of suspected criminals. Police officials said the suspects attempted to flee after being intercepted, leading to an exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalid Mustafa, the two deceased suspects were identified as Shahzad and Shahyan. Both were allegedly involved in multiple cases of serious crimes, including armed robbery, vehicle snatching and other criminal activities across Karachi.
Police said the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the exchange of fire and died at the scene. Their bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities before further legal proceedings.
During the operation, police recovered a vehicle that had reportedly been snatched from Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. Officials said the vehicle would be returned to its lawful owner after the completion of legal procedures and forensic examination.

Authorities also recovered firearms and ammunition allegedly used by the suspects during criminal activities. The seized weapons have been sent for forensic testing to determine whether they were used in previous criminal incidents across the city.
Investigators believe the suspects were members of an organised gang involved in vehicle snatching, armed robberies and street crimes targeting motorists and commuters in different parts of Karachi.
Police further claimed that another alleged accomplice, identified as Saqib, had earlier been killed in a separate police encounter on Shaheed-e-Millat Road. Investigators are now examining possible links between both incidents to determine the operational network of the suspected gang.
Following the encounter, heavy police contingents reached the area and cordoned off the crime scene to collect evidence. Officers from forensic and crime scene investigation units documented the site, collected ballistic evidence and recorded statements from police personnel involved in the operation.
Officials said surveillance footage from nearby commercial buildings and traffic cameras is also being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events and verify the suspects’ movements before the encounter.
Police have launched further investigations to identify additional members of the suspected criminal network. Raids are expected in different areas of Karachi based on information obtained during the investigation.
Karachi has witnessed a sustained campaign against street crime in recent months, with police increasing intelligence-based operations against gangs involved in vehicle theft, armed robbery and motorcycle snatching.
Senior police officials said criminal groups frequently change operational areas to avoid detection, making intelligence sharing and surveillance critical in disrupting organised crime networks.
Law enforcement authorities added that efforts are continuing to strengthen patrolling, improve response times and increase monitoring of crime hotspots through modern surveillance systems.
Police urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities through official helplines and avoiding resistance during robbery incidents to minimise the risk of harm.
Officials also appealed to residents purchasing used vehicles or motorcycles to verify ownership documents carefully, saying stolen vehicles are often sold using forged paperwork through illegal networks.
The recovered vehicle and weapons will remain in police custody until forensic examinations and legal procedures are completed. Authorities said the findings could help solve several pending criminal cases linked to the suspects.
Police maintained that operations against armed gangs would continue across Karachi, stressing that intelligence-led action remains a key strategy to curb violent crime, dismantle organised criminal groups and improve public safety throughout the city.
