ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, during which both leaders expressed deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, reaffirming support for intensified diplomatic efforts to restore peace in the region.
According to the Foreign Office, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on recent developments in the Palestinian territories and discussed ways to strengthen coordination between Pakistan and Jordan on regional and international diplomatic platforms.
During the conversation, both leaders expressed serious concern over the continuing Israeli military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, saying the worsening security situation was contributing to an already severe humanitarian crisis.
The ministers also condemned repeated incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and voiced concern over restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers.
They said such actions violated the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites, increased regional tensions and undermined ongoing efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar and Safadi agreed that the international community should take effective steps to prevent further escalation and promote dialogue based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The two leaders also discussed Jordan’s proposal to convene an emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to formulate a coordinated response to the rapidly evolving situation.
The proposed meeting is expected to focus on diplomatic initiatives, humanitarian assistance and efforts to support a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
During the conversation, Ayman Safadi appreciated Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic engagement and constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s continued support for the Palestinian cause and welcomed Islamabad’s efforts at international forums to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position, Ishaq Dar reiterated Islamabad’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of Palestinians, including their right to self-determination.
He emphasized that Pakistan remained committed to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the internationally recognized two-state solution.
Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) serving as its capital.
The foreign minister stressed that a peaceful and durable settlement of the conflict remained essential for ensuring long-term stability throughout the Middle East.
Officials said both ministers agreed to maintain close diplomatic coordination in the coming weeks as regional developments continue to evolve.
Pakistan and Jordan have traditionally maintained close diplomatic relations and frequently cooperate on issues concerning the Muslim world, regional security and humanitarian matters.
The latest exchange comes amid growing international concern over the humanitarian impact of continued violence and calls from several countries for greater diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
Both sides emphasized the importance of protecting civilians, respecting international humanitarian law and ensuring unrestricted humanitarian assistance reaches affected populations.
The conversation concluded with a commitment to continue consultations through bilateral and multilateral channels while supporting initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and advancing prospects for a peaceful settlement.
Pakistan has consistently maintained that sustainable peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through dialogue, adherence to international law and the implementation of a negotiated two-state solution acceptable to all parties.
