ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – China has reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States, highlighting the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means and diplomacy.
The assurance came during a telephone conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday.
According to official sources, Wang Yi commended Pakistan’s active role in promoting regional peace and stability through continuous diplomatic outreach, mediation initiatives, and constructive engagement with all stakeholders.
The Chinese foreign minister congratulated Pakistan’s leadership on successfully advancing the mediation process and the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as a positive step toward dialogue and conflict resolution.
During the conversation, Ishaq Dar thanked China for its consistent support for peace efforts and appreciated Beijing’s diplomatic initiatives, including the peace proposals advanced by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The two leaders reviewed progress in the Iran-US peace process, particularly following the first round of high-level talks held in Switzerland with the support of Pakistan and Qatar.
Dar informed his Chinese counterpart that a high-level committee had been established under the Islamabad MoU to oversee the mediation process and coordinate future negotiations.
He said three dedicated working groups had also been formed to address key issues, including the nuclear programme, sanctions, and mechanisms for monitoring and dispute resolution.
Both sides expressed confidence that sustained diplomatic engagement could help the parties reach a comprehensive agreement within the agreed timeframe and contribute to long-term regional stability.
The leaders reaffirmed Pakistan and China’s commitment to working together for a negotiated settlement that promotes peace, economic cooperation, and shared prosperity.
