DEHLI (Web Desk) – Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar has finally addressed the growing speculation surrounding his recent Instagram activity after fans noticed that he had unfollowed several celebrities, close friends and industry colleagues, sparking widespread discussion across social media platforms.
The filmmaker’s sudden Instagram clean-up quickly caught attention when users discovered that several high-profile personalities no longer appeared on his following list. Among those reportedly unfollowed were Shah Rukh Khan, Ananya Panday, Kartik Aaryan and longtime friend and fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
Fans also pointed out that several celebrities often associated with Johar’s inner circle, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Malaika Arora, as well as actors often described as his protégés such as Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt, were no longer visible among the people he follows.
Interestingly, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas remains among the limited number of accounts Johar still follows. Currently, the filmmaker follows only around 78 accounts on Instagram.
Putting an end to the rumours, Johar used Instagram Stories to explain that the move was not personal but rather part of an effort to reduce time spent on social media.

The clarification comes during a busy year for the filmmaker, who recently grabbed headlines for his appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, where he wore an elaborate creation designed by Manish Malhotra inspired by artworks of Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma.
On the professional front, Johar has remained active through projects under the banner of Dharma Productions. His recent production ventures include Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Chand Mera Dil. While Chand Mera Dil received mixed reactions from audiences and critics after its theatrical release, Johar continues to expand his production slate with upcoming projects featuring actors including Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan.
As a director, Johar’s last release remains Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which emerged as a commercial success.
