LAHORE: On the directions of Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi, the Department of Applied Psychology at Lahore College for Women University successfully organized a comprehensive “Health & Wellbeing Week,” aimed at enhancing physical, emotional, and mental wellness across campus.

The initiative marks a significant step toward the university’s vision of establishing a dedicated Health and Wellbeing Service Center to strengthen psychological support systems and foster a culture of wellbeing.

Throughout the week, students, faculty, and staff participated in a variety of interactive workshops focusing on stress management, emotional resilience, and health awareness. A Laughter Therapy session encouraged participants to relieve stress and build social connections through guided exercises.

The “Restoring Calm” session introduced practical techniques such as sleep hygiene, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and hypnotherapy-inspired methods to improve mental balance.

An awareness session titled “Blood, Bites & Brainpower” highlighted thalassemia awareness, along with guidance on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. Activities like Tactile Therapy, Organic Henna Art, and Pet Therapy were also conducted to support emotional expression and psychological comfort.

An Art Therapy workshop promoted creativity through painting and crafts, while the closing Music Therapy and Karaoke session created an uplifting atmosphere through group singing and musical engagement.

The program was supervised by Dr Saima Eman, whose leadership ensured smooth execution of the activities. The university also acknowledged the guidance of Professor Dr Amina Muazzam for her continued support in promoting student wellbeing initiatives.

The initiative reflects a growing focus on mental health awareness and holistic wellbeing in educational institutions.

Such programs help reduce stress, improve emotional health, and build supportive campus environments.

LCWU aims to further institutionalize wellbeing services through a dedicated support center.

Mental health awareness is gaining momentum in Pakistan, particularly in universities seeking to support student wellbeing.
