[:en]Govt cuts petrol prices by Rs4.74 per litre[:]

[:en]OUR CORRESPONDENT 

ISLAMABAD:The federal government Friday reduced petrol prices by Rs4.74, settling the new rate at Rs268.36 per litre.
It reduced high speed diesel by Rs3.86 per litre to Rs3.86.

The price took effect  from June 1, 2024.
According to an official government  post on X, PM Shehbaz Sharif directed to reduce petrol price by Rs15.40 per litre and HSD by Rs7.88 per litre.

It was therefore most media outlets run the following news which subsequently had to be altered as above headline reads.

The government has cut petrol pri es by Rs15.4 and high-speed diesel by Rs7.p per litter.

 

The reduction in HSD price is expected to have a significant impact on inflation countrywide, as HSD is widely used in the transport and agricultural sectors.

 

The price reduction can extend significant relief to the public hit hard by years of continuous inflation and high prices of fuel in the country.[:]
