LAHORE, April 16: Lahore Police have stepped up efforts to maintain law and order, combining a major crackdown on criminals with heightened security arrangements for the ongoing anti-polio campaign in the provincial capital.

According to a police spokesperson, authorities have arrested 9,521 proclaimed offenders since the start of the year. In addition, 5,371 court absconders and 2,261 target offenders have also been taken into custody during various operations across the city.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that action against criminal elements is continuing without discrimination, supported by the effective use of human intelligence and modern technology. He directed officers to accelerate efforts against offenders involved in serious crimes, ensuring timely investigations and legal action.
Meanwhile, the police have also implemented comprehensive security measures for polio workers participating in the ongoing vaccination drive. Special security teams have been deployed across Lahore to safeguard health workers, with strict monitoring in place.
The CCPO stated that polio teams are being continuously monitored through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority to ensure immediate response to any untoward situation. He also instructed the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Units, and local police stations to maintain effective patrolling during the campaign.
Emphasising vigilance, Kamyana urged all personnel to remain alert and ready to respond to emergencies, reaffirming that protecting polio teams working for children’s health remains a top priority.
He added that curbing crime and safeguarding citizens’ lives and property continue to be the foremost responsibilities of Lahore Police.
