MUMBAI (News Desk) – Nora Fatehi has strongly defended herself after facing online criticism for sharing a message advocating global peace amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
The 34-year-old Canadian-born performer recently posted on Instagram condemning the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran, voicing support for those affected by the violence and calling for unity across borders. Her statement, however, prompted backlash from some social media users, who accused her of siding with a particular group and criticised what they perceived as support for Muslims.
Responding in a fresh Instagram video, Fatehi addressed her detractors directly, suggesting that many people have “lost the ability to listen and understand”. She emphasised the importance of critical thinking, reminding viewers that it is a fundamental skill taught in schools, and encouraged them to pause and reflect before reacting angrily.
“My message of peace and unity is for every human being, irrespective of nationality or faith,” she said. “If an appeal for peace upsets you, perhaps it’s time for some self-reflection.”
Fatehi further stated that condemning violence and unrest should not be interpreted as hostility towards any nation or community. “Every country and every individual belongs to this world. Speaking against chaos does not make you anyone’s enemy,” she added.
Mentioning the holy month of Ramadan, she said she felt deeply moved to speak out, describing it as troubling that even calls for peace could spark outrage.
In the caption of her post, the actress reiterated that she stands by her views, adding that those who feel provoked by messages of global harmony should consider seeking help.
Previously, Fatehi had also expressed concern over the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, noting that the constant stream of distressing news and images had affected her emotionally.
