LAHORE: Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan visited the Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation (DOME), where he conducted a detailed review of the IT Wing, Resource Wing, Monitoring & Evaluation Wing, and Admin & Finance Wing.
On the occasion, Secretary Law Asif Bilal Lodhi briefed the Provincial Minister on departmental affairs, ongoing reforms, and future plans. He informed that following the abolition of the Office of the Solicitor to Government on December 18, 2024, DOME was established as an attached department of the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department to align the Law Department with modern requirements and promote digital governance.
The Secretary Law further apprised that DOME’s functions include automation of the Case Management System, digital maintenance of government litigation records, and monitoring of all District Attorney offices across Punjab, including the DAPST office. Other key responsibilities include handling budgetary matters of District Attorney offices, settlement of audit paras, and capacity building of law officers.
During the briefing, it was shared that daily online reports from all districts and tehsils are being compiled, while the monitoring system for District Attorneys General, Deputy District Attorneys, and other law officers has become fully operational. Legal advisory services are also being provided to administrative departments, attached bodies, and law officers, along with preparation and implementation of the Annual Development Programme.
The Provincial Minister was also briefed on amendments to the governing rules of the Directorate and the issuance of a code of conduct for District Attorneys, Deputy District Attorneys, and Assistant District Attorneys. Additionally, he was informed about the Artificial Intelligence-based Litigation Management and Training System, aimed at ensuring effective case monitoring and enhancing the professional capacity of law officers.
Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan termed the establishment of the Directorate and the introduction of modern systems as a welcome development. He stated that the Litigation Management System would significantly improve transparency and performance, reduce delays in cases, and ensure better utilization of government resources.
He added that judicial reforms are among the top priorities of the Government of Punjab and that digital monitoring will help ensure prompt and effective justice for the public. Emphasizing the importance of technology, he said it is a major step towards making the Law Department more efficient, transparent, and public-friendly.
Appreciating the performance of the officers, the Provincial Minister directed all concerned officials to work with mutual coordination and harmony to effectively implement the reform agenda of the Government of Punjab.
Director Legal Shahid Imtiaz, Director Admin Aitzaz Aslam Marth, Deputy Directors Amina Bari and Nasir Abbas, along with other relevant officials, were also present on the occasion.
